Hertz Car Rental at San Diego International Airport

San Diego International Airport (SAN) is located approximately 3 miles, or 4.8km from the Central Business District of San Diego, a large city in the United States of America, and in the state of California. The airport is also known as the Lindbergh Field, and is a focus city for the airline companies of Southwest Airlines and Alaska Airlines. San Diego and its airport are also quite nearby the border between Mexico and the US, as Tijuana in Mexico is only about 15 miles away. Buses and taxis serve the airport, but many passengers prefer to travel in a rented car, from companies such as Hertz San Diego International Airport. The airport of San Diego is quite large, serving around 16 million passengers per annum, and consists of three terminal buildings, which are referred to as Terminal 1, Terminal 2 and the Commuter Terminal. Both the main terminals (1 and 2) have two parts, East and West, and several airline gates. They are also the terminals where passengers will arrive when flying with Alaska Airlines, Southwest Airlines and United Airlines, however, Terminal 2 handles all the international flight arrivals. These funds will not be available for use. The same credit card, or a debit card, may be used for the final payment. Persons over the age of 25 may also use a debit card at the start of the rental period, but younger drivers will need a major credit card, and will be subject to higher rental fees for young driver insurance. At San Diego International Airport, Hertz has a covered return centre, and offers Gold Canopy service for their members of the Hertz #1 Club Gold. They also hire child seats and the Hertz NeverLost In-Car Navigation System, and may allow one way hires. Hertz one way hires are sometimes referred to as the Hertz Rent-It-Here and Leave-It-There service, and could incur additional charges. Cars may be driven to all areas in California, but be careful not to leave the country, as cross-border rentals are often not permitted. From San Diego Airport, one way hires are chosen by passengers who are not planning to return to the airport, as the service allows the vehicle to be delivered to an alternative rental location.

Hertz is very popular for their Hertz #1 Club benefits, and for their vehicles that can be more specifically hired (by make and model) from the Green Traveler Collection, the Prestige Collection and the Adrenaline Collection. The loyalty program of Hertz is free to join, and occasional renters are welcome. Members enjoy many time and money saving benefits, and will have access to services that ordinary renters will not. Persons who rent a car from Hertz three or more times in a twelve month period will be invited to join the Hertz #1 Club Gold, for more exclusive benefits and discounts. Cars from Hertz that can be booked by their specific makes and models include the Smart Electric Vehicle, Hybrid Sedan and Jetta TDI Clean Diesel in the Green Traveler Collection, the Volvo V70 Convertible, Cadillac SRX, Mercedes E Class and Lincoln Navigator in the Prestige Collection and the Corvette Convertible, Ford Mustang and Chevy Camaro SS from the Adrenaline Collection. Usually, cars may only be hired by their category.

The cars mentioned, however, may have a higher price tag, and therefore those in the Standard category are often more popular. Standard cars are similar to the Chevy Aveo, Kia Rio, Nissan Altima, Toyota Corolla and Toyota Camry. Vehicles with a larger capacity for passengers can be hired from Hertz as well. The Dodge Grand Caravan and Chevy Traverse are ideal for seven, while the Chevrolet Suburban and GMC Yukon can seat eight. The Ford Super Clubwagon is even larger, with room for twelve passengers.
