Buses to and from Portland International Airport (PDX)

Because of the railway system's convenience, there are few bus options at the Airport. Shuttles at Portland International Airport on the lower roadway, outside baggage claim.

You can, however, hop onto one of the buses when you arrive in downtown Portland. Please know your transportation needs before availing of shuttle services. They might cost you more than taking the inexpensive railway and public buses.

At the Airport, only accredited shuttle services and buses are allowed. Please see the details below to arrange for your ground transportation requirements if you are ever avail of the service.

From PDX, we suggest these two options: MAX Light Rail and TriMet Bus.

  • The trip between the Airport and downtown Portland takes about 40 minutes only.
  • A ticket for an adult is only $2.50, youth $1.25, and honorary citizens $1.

MAX Light Rail and TriMet Bus (from Portland International Airport to Downtown Portland, Oregon)

  • TriMet's MAX Light Rail station is outside the southern end of the terminal-near concourses A and B.
  • Its Red Line offers, at its next stop, transfer options to the Green and Blue lines, and at Pioneer Square, to its Yellow line.
  • Many city buses connect with MAX Light Rail, Portland Streetcar, and aerial trams.

Public Bus Services (Portland, Oregon)

It's easy to get around the city on TriMet buses. It goes all over the city and its suburbs, has low prices, friendly drivers, and is fully accessible for wheelchair users.

  • Most buses have bike racks, making public transportation easier for people who ride bikes.
  • TriMet launched Hop Fastpass in 2017 to pay for your fare electronically.
  • Hop cards for $3 at the TriMet Information Center in Pioneer Courthouse Square, local stores, and grocery stores.
  • To add value, you can reload the cards using the Hop Fastpass mobile app or local stores.
  • To use a Hop Fastpass, tap the card on a designated card reader each time you board the MAX light rail, streetcar, or bus.
