Trains to and from Chicago Midway Airport (MDW)
Upon arrival at Midway International Airport (MDW), passengers can choose from several ground transportation services, including rental cars, taxis, rideshares, hotel shuttle services, and buses and trains.
Midway has one terminal with two main concourses, A and B. There is also a three-gate area labeled Concourse C. All gate areas are connected inside the TSA secure area.
The train station is connected to the airport via an enclosed walkway at the Midway Transportation Center. Orange Line trains operate from Midway to downtown via elevated tracks.
There are signs in the area that read "CTA Trains" or "Trains to City."
The Chicago Transit Authority (CTA) Orange Line Train Service
CTA offers train and bus services in the City of Chicago and the surrounding suburbs.
The CTA trains are the "L," and the Orange Line is the most accessible and affordable way to get to Midway from downtown via public transit.
It operates from approximately 4:00 to 4:30 am to approximately 1:00 am every day, with more frequent service during weekday morning and evening rush hours.
The typical travel time from Midway to downtown is 20-25 minutes. Once downtown, trains travel clockwise around the Loop and make all stops back to Midway.
The Orange Line connects to most other CTA train lines. Alternate overnight bus service is available via the N62 Archer bus.
You can transfer to buses, but you need a Transit Card or an unlimited ride pass. Using a stored-value Transit Card, you can make up to two transfers within two hours for just 25 cents.
You can purchase fare with cash or credit. There are vending machines located outside the station.
