Trains to and from Orlando International Airport (MCO)

When passengers arrive at Orlando Airport (MCO), they can take taxis, rideshares, rental cars, buses, hotel shuttles, or trains to get to their next destination.

From this Airport, passengers can use the rail services provided by SunRail and Amtrak.

SunRail (at Sand Lake Road Station)

Passengers can depart/arrive on SunRail services at Sand Lake Road SunRail station.

  • There is no direct connection from Debary SunRail Station to Orlando Airport (MCO). You can take the train to LYNX Central and take a walk to LYNX Central Station.
  • Then take LYNX Bus Line No. 11 to Orlando International Airport Transfer Center.
  • Taking a taxi to Orlando Airport (MCO) is an option.

SunRail operates Monday through Friday. SunRail does not work on weekends or certain holidays.

  • Arrive at your station 15 minutes early to purchase tickets. Remember to Tap ON a ticket validator before you board and Tap OFF when you arrive at your next station.
  • Ride to the Sand Lake Road station. Upon arrival, present your SunRail ticket to board the LYNX Non-Stop Link 111 to the Airport for a free transfer.
  • Pay the required bus fare to get to the Sand Lake Road station on the way back.
  • But be sure to request a transfer from your bus driver.
  • You need this transfer to buy a SunRail ticket at the platform ticket vending machines to board your train home.

The trip is approximately 15 minutes from the SunRail Sand Lake Road Station to Orlando International Airport.

SunRail provides Central Florida commuter rail service along a 49-mile route from DeBary in Volusia County to Poinciana in Osceola County.

Launched in May of 2014, SunRail currently has 16 stations in four counties, with four stations in the City of Orlando:

  • Advent Health Station
  • LYNX Central Station
  • Church Street Station
  • Orlando Health/Amtrak Station

SunRail trains are ADA compliant and bicycle-friendly and include restrooms, power outlets, and free wi-fi.

The SunRail Extension (On-going Project)

One of its plans includes extending service north to DeLand and east to Orlando International Airport.

SunRail and Brightline are teaming up to extend the rail service through Orlando to Tampa.

  • Brightline is near finishing their rail from South Florida to Orlando International Airport.
  • SunRail will also connect workers and tourists from the Airport to Walt Disney World, Universal Orlando Resort, Sea World, I-Drive, and the Brightline to Tampa.

Amtrak (at 1400 Sligh Blvd)

The Amtrak station is approximately 12 miles from Orlando International Airport and can be accessed via buses, taxis, and rideshares.

To get to the Amtrak station by bus,

  • Take LYNX Bus No. 11 to Orange Avenue and Columbia Street for $2.
  • Amtrak station is less than a kilometer away from the bus stop.
  • Orange & Columbia is approximately 30 minutes away.

Traveling on the Amtrak train is one of the best ways to see the United States. Not only are passengers treated to sights that can only be seen by railway, but the comfort level on the Amtrak train is higher than on the bus and on some airlines.

If you are thinking about taking a trip to the U.S. and are considering Amtrak as an option, then there are some things you need to know about the train.

Amtrak train tickets are sold uniquely, which is excellent for early-bird travelers who buy their tickets well in advance.

Instead of having a fluctuating price matrix like most airlines, Amtrak sells tickets in 'buckets,' with the lowest fares selling first. Once the allotted amount of tickets for that price in the 'bucket' is sold out, the next 'bucket' with a higher ticket price is opened up.

Several different seating options are available to you on your Amtrak train trip.

These include Coach, Business, First Class (on select trains), and Sleeper Cars. And there are several different sleeper car options as well.

Depending on the train you are traveling on, you can choose between a Roomette, a Bedroom, a Bedroom Suite, a Family Bedroom, or an Accessible Bedroom.

You can visit the Amtrak website at https://www.amtrak.com/home.html to learn more about your seating options and to view pictures and dimensions of each seat or sleeper car.
