Getting to and from Charleston International Airport (CHS)

At CHS, Departures and Arrivals are on the same floor, with the departure area to the east end of the terminal and the arrival area to the west end.

Flights depart from two concourses, A (towards the east) and B (towards the west).

Concourse A contains five (5) gates that are primarily used by Delta Air Lines and Delta Connection, with other airlines occasionally using gates as needed for overflow.

Concourse B features ten (10) gates and is used by other airlines serving the airport. Additionally, Concourse B also contains the international arrivals facility.

The CHS Rental Car pickup is in the Rental Car Pavilion at the end of the terminal, past the Baggage Claim area at the ground level.

This facility may not be open 24/7 because car rental company service hours may vary based on flight schedules, among other considerations.

Please inquire at your service provider for specific service hours and return procedures.

When ready to return your vehicle to the car rental center, remove all personal items before turning over the rented vehicle to the designated facility.

The Rental Car Drop-off is located on Level 1 of the new five-level parking building. This facility is connected with a covered walkway to and from the terminal.

Ride Shares at Charleston International Airport

Rideshares are available at Charleston International Airport.

Once you request your ride at Charleston International Airport, you can meet your car outside of the Baggage Claim area and follow signs to the covered shelter which is across both roadways and to the right of the last sidewalk.

Passengers can reserve rideshare by downloading the company’s app on their smartphone and coordinating directly with their driver. They can also request a ride a few days before their flight to avoid the inconvenience.

Please proceed to the Ground Transportation Center toward the taxi stand in front of your terminal building.

A taxi ride downtown takes about 25 minutes. Depending on how far into the city center you want to go, you can expect prices to range from $30.00-$40.00 on average.

The airport is not directly connected to the train station. However, the Amtrak train station is available downtown at 4565 Gaynor Avenue, North Charleston Transit Center, North Charleston, South Carolina.

Buses at Charleston International Airport

CARTA Express Bus Route 4: also known as North Area Shuttle (NASH) Express is an express service to downtown Charleston with stops at the North Charleston Visitors Center and the Tanger Outlets. Total trip time from the airport to downtown is usually 25–35 minutes.

CARTA Bus Route 11: is a local service that connects the airport to downtown Charleston with several stops along Dorchester Road and Meeting Street in North Charleston. Total trip time from the airport to downtown is usually 50–55 minutes.
