Europcar Car Rental at Baltimore Washington International Airport
The Baltimore-Washington Metropolitan area, one of the largest in the United States of America, is served by three main airports – the Ronald Reagan National Airport, the Washington-Dulles International Airport and Baltimore-Washington International Airport, with the official IATA code of BWI. Baltimore’s airport is the largest and busiest of the three, with over twenty million passengers per annum. It has also been voted as the best airport in the world for efficiency and service in previous years. Available to passengers, are car hire companies such as Europcar Baltimore-Washington International Airport. All car rental companies of the airport offer competitive rates for their vehicles, and a wide range of innovative services.
The airport of BWI has five concourses and is served by a large number of airline companies. It is also a focus city for Cape Air and Southwest Airlines. Passengers could arrive at either the Concourses A, B, C, D or E, and will find ground transport options at each, including the car rental shuttles that will take them to the airport’s rental car facility that is located along Stoney Run Road and New Ridge Road. Customers of Europcar should keep in mind that they will be collecting their vehicle from the rental counters of National, a partner company of Europcar. The shuttle buses leave from outside of the baggage claim areas on the lower levels of the concourses every ten minutes, and will take just ten minutes to reach the rental car centre. They are free of charge, and able to transport a reasonable number of passengers and their luggage items. Certain shuttles may be equipped with a wheelchair lift as well.
Once at the rental car centre, the primary renter of the vehicle will need to show a valid drivers license and a major credit card. A hold will be placed on the renter’s credit card account for the estimated rental charges due at the end of the rental period, and these funds will not be available for use. A debit card with the MasterCard or Visa logo can be used for this purpose as well by renters who are 25 years of age or older. Drivers of this age also have little or no restrictions on the type of vehicle that they may hire, whereas renters aged between 21 and 24 may be limited to hiring vehicles from only categories such as Economy, Compact and Midsize. Luxury, Premium and larger sized Minivans, Passenger Vans and SUVs may not be available. Younger drivers pay a higher rental rate as well.
Drivers licenses accepted by Europcar (National) are those that have been issued in the United States of America, or those that are Canadian-endorsed. Renters from a foreign country may need to arrange an International Driving Permit before their departure to Baltimore-Washington International Airport. Car hire companies of the airport will accept most credit cards, for example, MasterCard, Visa, Discover, GE Capital, AT&T Capital, Sears and PHH. They may also offer their own charge cards.
Passengers who will not be returning to the airport from where their vehicle was collected may be able to organise a one way hire. Europcar’s one way hire services allow a vehicle to be returned to any other of their rental locations in the state of Maryland, or even in a neighbouring state. Cars are, however, most often not permitted to be driven out of the country, as a cross-border rental. If arriving at Baltimore-Washington Airport, one way hire details should be confirmed in advance with Europcar. This service may also incur additional charges. Hire additional equipment in advance as well, such as child seats and satellite navigation systems. Child seats come in various sizes, and the GPS units are simple to operate, of a high quality and often have a list of pre-programmed points of interest. They may have a selection of languages as well.
For hire as well, from the car hire companies of Baltimore-Washington Airport, are hand controls for disabled drivers. This device may only be requested by a person with a lower limb disability, and is used to operate the brake and accelerator pedals of a vehicle with an automatic transmission. It is not intended for use by an able-bodied individual. Europcar’s hand control equipment is free of charge, but should be reserved at least forty-eight hours prior to the vehicle’s collection. A person unable to drive due to a disability may still be the primary renter of a vehicle, provided that he/she is accompanied by a person with a driving license. In this case, the second-driver is free of charge. The disabled person’s credit card will be used for payment, but the accompanying person’s driving license will be used to validate the rental.
The Baltimore-Washington International Airport car rental companies hire vehicles that are similar to the Chevrolet Aveo, Nissan Versa, Toyota Corolla, Ford Fusion and Chevrolet Impala, which are found in the Economy, Compact, Midsize, Standard and Fullsize vehicle categories. They are all ideal cars for travelling the Baltimore area, the only difference is their size and space for luggage. Their rental rates vary as well, with lower prices available for the smaller vehicles. They all have some nice features such as air conditioning and CD players.
Larger or more elegant cars are available from Europcar as well. SUVs such as the Ford Escape, Jeep Grand Cherokee, Chevrolet Tahoe, Chevrolet Suburban and Lincoln Navigator are popular, while a Minivan able to seat up to seven passengers could be similar to the Dodge Grand Caravan. There could also be larger passenger vans available, such as the Chevrolet Express for fifteen people. Cars that are of a higher class than an ordinary rented car are found in the Premium and Luxury vehicle categories. Further car rental details are available from Europcar at Baltimore-Washington International Airport.
