Baltimore is a vibrant and attractive city in the state of Maryland, United States of America. It features many intriguing neighbourhoods and districts, large shopping centres and modern buildings for business purposes, as can be expected in a city of Baltimore’s size, and is also filled with many historical aspects, which make tourism quite popular. The best way into the city is through the Baltimore-Washington International Airport, which is located only 10 miles from downtown Baltimore. The airport offers many forms of ground transportation for its arriving passengers, including railway options, and has all the facilities that are required, such as welcome centres where more information can be obtained regarding Baltimore attractions.

This city of America is famous for a number of aspects. Tourists often travel from miles around to visit Camden Yards, which is Baltimore’s superb ballpark. It is also famous for being the birthplace of the country’s National Anthem. The Aquarium is considered as one of the city’s most popular attractions, and is home to an amazing variety of sea creatures, as well as reptiles, amphibians and birds. The various displays of the aquarium are all of interesting themes, for example, the Atlantic Coral Reef and the Rain Forest. The centre is also dedicated to education and to the promotion of interest in aquatic environments. In 1878, the Maryland Zoo was founded, and is noted as being the third-oldest zoo in the United States of America. It is located at Druid Hill Park, and covers a large area of 65 hectares. Visitors of the zoo can see animals such as lions, cheetahs, rhinos, leopards, penguins, giraffes, warthogs and many others. The zoo is open daily from 10:00 to 16:00.

Baltimore’s rich and interesting heritage is reflected in the city’s many landmarks and monuments, of which some of the most important include the Edgar Allan Poe House, the Washington Monument and Museum at Mount Vernon Place, the Fort McHenry National Monument and Historic Shrine, the Maryvale Castle, the Holocaust Memorial and Sculpture and the Star Spangled Banner and Flag House. The castle was built in 1913 and currently houses the Maryvale Trinity College Preparatory School, and the Fort McHenry National Monument is hailed as the birthplace of the American National Anthem.
