Buses to and from Austin bergstrom International Airport (AUS)

The Capital Metro or CapMetro is Austin’s public transportation provider. It operates buses, MetroRail, and other transport services.

CapMetro has various bus services such as the MetroBus, MetroExpress, MetroRapid, and the University Shuttle Bus.

All the buses mentioned above are the agency’s most utilized transport services, with more than 16 million boardings according to their records in the fiscal year 2020.

The majority of the bus routes operate within the city of Austin. However, the agency has agreed and signed contracts with other cities and organizations to provide transport services outside its jurisdictional area.

MetroBus is popular among the bus services in the metro. It has 82 standard routes with 15 frequent bus routes. It also provides a transport service to one of Austin’s suburban districts of Round Rock.

MetroBus fare starts at $1.25 for a single ride and $2.50 for a day pass.

The MetroExpress bus service has limited stops between Downtown Austin and the far-flung suburbs. Express routes are served by color red MetroExpress buses.

In January 2014, Capital Metro launched the MetroRapid bus, a transit service operating and sharing lanes with automobiles.

MetroRapid fare starts at $1.50 for a single ride and $2.50 for a day pass.

In 1989, the Capital Metro took over the operations of the University of Texas at Austin’s University Shuttle system. The system, one of the largest university shuttle transit systems in the United States, handles over 5.2 million passengers annually.

The UT Shuttle network is open to the public, but UT students, faculty, and staff are exempted from paying the transportation fare and on all standard MetroBus services.

MetroBuses are also available at the ground transportation area of the Austin-Bergstrom International Airport.

Passengers traveling to and from the airport can take the bus via high-frequency route 20.

Riding the MetroBus from the airport may take 35 minutes to reach the downtown area.
